Celebrate Independence Day through your support of independent bookselling! We're open 4th of July!

Jefferson

Dear Friends,

July is a great time of year in Vermont-- it marks warm weather (for real, this time), gardening in earnest, and summer reading.

This is also the time of year that the Northshire Bookstore community supports the Interfaith Council's Summer Lunch Program, feeding over a 100 children between the end of school and late August. Again this year, we will place monetary donation bins at our registers and will have a raffle to win a Gund brand plush children's dragon chair valued at $105. Of course, prices have risen this year for milk and other products, so every donation helps to support our area's children.

Just because school is out, doesn't mean reading stops! We invite children in 1st through 6th grades (and anyone before or beyond those grades) to participate in our Kids' Summer Reading Program. Children read five books, log in the titles and provide at least two "Shelf-Talkers" to recommend (or critique) books for the store. Participants will then receive a $10 coupon toward a book purchase. For more information, visit the Kids' Department or get forms here.

July is full of events for everyone, and we hope you can join us for these inspiring discussions. If you're a fan of the Stephanie Meyer Twlight series, be sure to be one of the first in the nation to receive a copy of her fourth book, Breaking Dawn. On August 1st, are hosting a party, 9pm to midnight when the new book will be released. If you'd like to be on the mailing list for updates and details, email BreakingDawn@Northshire.com. Pre-order your copy soon!

Most of you should have received Independent Voices, our staff picks of our favorite books, music, DVDs and gift items for the season. Let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list, or just stop in the store to pick one up; it'll be online shortly.

Happy summer reading!
