The ideas of it is okay to be different and to just to be yourself is wonderfully explored in this great story. Elmer and the other ducks leans this after Elmer, who is a particular "odd duck," saves more than just the day. Great for all ages.

A lovely book of haiku poems that shows a young girl as she journeys through a Japanese garden. As she discovers the wonders of the garden, you can count them along with her. The bottom of each page also gives factual information about the item the narrator is currently talking about. Fantastic folk tale told by a fabulous folk singer. Pete Seeger's wonderful story of a young boy and his mischievous father and how they save their village from the terror, Abiyoyo, is a perfect adventure for children of all ages. Humor and Michael Hays' interesting illustrations help move the text to it grand ending.
